Claudia and Celtico III completed their Century Club ride at the Dressage at Dancing Kings show on July 22, 2023. The Century Club recognizes dressage riders and horses whose combined ages total 100 years or more. Horse and rider perform a test of any level at a show, and are scored by a dressage judge or professional. Claudia’s ride was even more exciting as it was a Pas de Duex with her daughter Liz Smith, on her horse Roshs Tyler, making it a real family affair. Claudia had a large cheering section rooting her on, many of whom were wearing T-shirts commemorating the special event.
Claudia started riding when she was 7, riding and competing jumpers for many years. She had no experience with dressage until she met Judy McNames in the 80s and started taking lessons in Montara. Claudia was in her 40s at that point, and while still jumping, she began to enjoy the skill and discipline required for dressage, as well as the lowered risk factor! Between Claudia and her daughter, they’ve owned over 17 horses. In addition, Claudia is on the board for the SFP Chapter where she serves as Director at Large.
The SFP Chapter congratulates Claudia on this milestone achievement and wishes her many years to come in the saddle.
