Pilates for the Dressage Rider
With Kris Barrett - Tuesday, April 15th

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 15 for this fun event with Kris Barrett. The action will take place at 6:00 pm in the Woodside Town Hall and is free of charge. The Town Hall is located at 2955 Woodside Rd., directly behind the Pioneer Saloon building.

HOW WILL PILATES HELP MY RIDING? The "Powerhouse", (the abdomen, low back, and buttocks) is strengthened by Pilates to better support the body in movement and balance. By focusing on these core muscle groups, the rider gains the ability to keep the pelvis in a correct, neutral position throughout the ride, staying with the movement of the horse. The extremities are strengthened at the same time, allowing more control over the arms and legs without compromising the torso position. The combination of these exercises enables the rider to achieve seat, leg, and hand aids that are independent.

2008 SFP Competition Clinic Schedule:
May 18 - Alyssa Pitts at Stanford
June 28 - Katie Hoefs at Webb Ranch

Ride your test of choice, followed by critique and comments from the judge. Total ride time 20 minutes; $40 per ride. Make check payable to CDS/SFP. Download CDS entry form from www.california-dressage.org. Mail to Elsa Kirkpatrick, 10587 Creston Dr., Los Altos, CA 94024. For more information, contact Elsa at 408-736-3705 or ekirkpatrick8@sbcglobal.net.
SFP L Judge Program Has Successful Start

Session A of the L Judge program went very smoothly on the weekend of March 15-16. Next, Session B, "Gaits & Paces, Movements & Figures" is in Gilroy, May 3-4. Session C, "Equitation & Rider Biomechanics" is in Gilroy, June 21-22.

These classes aren't limited to folks interested only in judging! They are "general education" classes suitable for anyone interested in riding and training - you can attend a single session or more. We heard very positive comments from the auditors last weekend, so give it a try! For more information, contact Margaret Hurley at margarethurley@sbcglobal.net or phone 831-625-3738 (home) or 831-521-4784 (cell).
