Matt Brown Clinic, June 10-11, 2007
I had an opportunity to ride with Matt Brown June 10th on a "borrowed"
horse; Mary's Tywysog, a talented Welsh Cobb generously loaned by his owner, Georgina Robinson. Matt was friendly, direct and quickly put us at ease so we could concentrate and get right to work. Aside from Matt's clear depth of knowledge, his style of training is distinctive. I found him to be highly focused on assessing and placing the horse's abilities and condition first, and then focusing on the rider's overall training/showing goals and their goal for the time spent together in the clinic. After weaving this input together, we proceeded to work on a few key things with really good results. Matt's thoughtful and tactful comments were meaningful and not overwhelming. I have been able to apply what I learned from him with every horse I've ridden since then with consistently good results. I am looking forward to learning more from Matt and hope he will return to our area often.
